GSP commences new drilling project for OMV Petrom

GSP UranusGSP is the contractor of the drilling works to be performed in the Istria block in the Black Sea, under a contract with OMV Petrom.

The project is part of an OMV Petrom investment aiming at increasing the production from the Lebada-East field by drilling two new wells at more than 2,000 m subsurface.

“Over the course of 15 years, we have completed various offshore drilling projects in the Black Sea. Each and every project is a new challenge and we trust that, through our expertise, we will contribute to the development of the regional  Oil & Gas production.” said Gabriel Comanescu, President of GSP Holding.

The drilling activities will be performed with GSP Uranus, a three legs, self-evelating unit, cantilever type, Marathon Le Tourneau Class 116-C design drilling rig, maximum water depth up to 100 m and 7.600 m maximum drilling depth. In 2013, the MODU has undergone an extensive modernization and reclassification process, an investment project worth over 44 mil. USD.
